Sunday August 31, 2008: What A Difference A Day Makes

Rain , Wind, Cold other than that a great day on the bike (NOT) well you know that anytime you try to ride 40 to 50 days in a row there will be good days and great days.

I started off in the pouring rain but it wasn’t too bad then I hit the 30 mph winds and it blew rain in areas that shouldn’t be possible than when you get wet it hurts!! after 30 miles I couldn’t feel my fingers or toes so I am feeling sorry for myself and pull into a gas station get off my bike and start to go in and for some reason I didn’t feel like it was safe to leave my bike outside where I couldn’t see it so I climb on my bike and go across the street to a McDonalds as I get of my bike feet and hands numb and I go to the door a man on crutches cold and shivering holds the door open for me and said Good morning . We both headed for the bath room and I asked him where he was from and he said he was from all over these parts and he was a black foot Indian. He went and set down and I ordered some warm food. I set down and the man was still shivering I asked him if I could by him a cup of coffee and he said he had a little money but thanks anyway. come to find out he was homeless and slept in the cold all night!! He was heading to Browning to the Indian homeless shelter and didn’t beat the cold weather he never asked for anything drank his coffee and said have a safe ride!! He walked back into the rain and cold.

Soo just when you think you have it bad someone always has it worse. " I once had the blues because I had no shoes until I met a man on the street who had no feet" A quote by Sherre Lanes Grandfather!!

Peace
Drex

P.S did you know that people look at you real funny when you are drying the front of your shorts with that little hand dryer thingy in the bathroom LOL

I left Browning this morning and I am in Shelby Mt only 65 miles but felt great just to get anywhere today calling for rain and cold tomorrow but 60's on Tues !!!
